AirPods Pro 3 Keep Falling Out? 7 Fixes That Actually Work

You bought AirPods Pro 3 for the noise cancellation. Instead, you spend your day pushing them back in. They loosen when you talk, slide when you chew, and pop out mid-run.

You're not alone. Apple's own support forums are full of people who tried every tip size and still can't keep them in. The good news: this is almost always a fit problem, and fit problems can be fixed.

We've been designing AirPods Pro ear tips since 2020; 1M+ ear tips sold and 43,000+ Kickstarter backers later, we've heard every version of "they won't stay in." Here's what actually works, in the order you should try it.

Quick answer: AirPods Pro 3 usually fall out because the ear tip is the wrong size, too smooth to grip, or can't adjust as your jaw moves. Run the Ear Tip Fit Test, try one size smaller, and if they still slip, switch to memory foam ear tips that expand to fill your ear canal, like AirFoams Pro V30

Why AirPods Pro 3 fall out

AirPods Pro 3 ship with five foam-infused silicone tips: XXS, XS, S, M and L. That's more choice than ever, but three things still work against you:

  • Your ear canal moves. Every time you talk or chew, your jaw changes the shape of your ear canal. A firm tip can't follow it, so it gets pushed outward a little at a time.
  • Smooth silicone slips. Skin oil and sweat turn a smooth tip into a slide. This is why they hold at your desk and fail on a run.
  • Your ears aren't the same size. Many people need a different tip in each ear and never test for it.

7 fixes for AirPods Pro 3 that keep falling out

1. Run the Ear Tip Fit Test

Go to Settings → [your AirPods] → Ear Tip Fit Test. It plays a short sound and tells you if each ear has a good seal. If one side fails, that side is your problem. Note: a "good seal" while sitting still doesn't guarantee it holds when you move.

2. Go one size smaller (and mix sizes)

The Pro 3 tips have foam inside, so they feel firmer than Pro 2 tips. A tip that's too big gets squeezed back out. If you used medium on Pro 2, try small on Pro 3. And don't be afraid to wear different sizes in each ear.

3. Insert with a twist

Gently pull the top of your ear up and back to straighten the canal. Insert the AirPod, then rotate it slightly toward your face until it locks in. Release your ear. This one trick fixes a surprising number of "loose" fits.

4. Clean and dry the tips (and your ears)

Oil, sweat, and lotion make tips slippery. Wipe the tips with a dry, lint-free cloth and make sure your ears are dry before inserting — especially after a shower or workout.

5. Do the chew test

Put them in, then talk out loud and chew gum for a minute. If they creep out, the issue isn't size — it's grip. Stock tips can pass the Fit Test and still fail this. Skip to fix #7.

6. Replace worn tips

Ear tips are like tires: they wear out. Tips that have gone soft, torn, or lost their shape won't seal properly. If yours are months old, replacing them may solve it.

7. Switch to memory foam ear tips built for AirPods Pro 3

This is the fix that ends the problem for most people. Memory foam compresses when you insert it, then slowly expands to fill your exact ear canal. Because it's soft, it moves with your jaw instead of being pushed out by it.

The catch with ordinary foam tips: they soak up sweat and wax, wear out fast, and are hard to clean. That's why we designed something different.

The fix we built: AirFoams Pro V30

AirFoams Pro V30 is our patented silicone-covered memory foam ear tip, made only for AirPods Pro 3. You get the comfort and seal of foam with the durability and easy cleaning of silicone.

  • Texture-CLAD silicone shield — a textured surface that grips your ear canal, so your AirPods stay put when you talk or run.
  • Memory foam core — expands to your ear's exact shape for a stronger seal, deeper bass, and better noise cancellation.
  • Sweat and wax protection — the silicone shield keeps oil and wax out of the foam, so it lasts longer than bare foam.
  • Integrated mesh at the opening — no buried mesh where wax builds up. Just wipe and go.
  • Lifetime replacements — if your tips ever fail, we replace them. Free U.S. shipping, $5 worldwide.

You won't find this design anywhere else — it's patented and sold only at charjenpro.com.

Frequently asked questions

Why do my AirPods Pro 3 fall out when I talk or eat? Your jaw changes the shape of your ear canal as it moves. Firm or smooth tips can't follow that movement, so they get pushed out. Memory foam tips compress and expand with your ear, which keeps them in place.

Do AirPods Pro 2 ear tips fit AirPods Pro 3? No. Apple changed the tip shape and attachment for AirPods Pro 3. You need tips made specifically for Pro 3, like AirFoams Pro V30 or V20.

Are foam ear tips better than silicone for AirPods Pro 3? For stay-in fit, usually yes. Foam fills your ear canal for a tighter seal, stronger bass, and better noise isolation. V30 combines both: a memory foam core with a silicone shield for grip and easy cleaning.

Will foam ear tips affect noise cancellation? A better seal typically improves passive noise isolation, which helps active noise cancellation work as intended. Run the Ear Tip Fit Test after installing any new tips.

How long do AirFoams Pro ear tips last? All ear tips wear out with use. That's why AirFoams Pro come with lifetime replacements — if your tips fail, we replace them. Register for the free warranty 14 days after delivery.

Do AirFoams Pro fit in the AirPods Pro 3 charging case? Yes. AirFoams Pro are designed for AirPods Pro 3 and store in the case when not in use.
